Cableway + Hiking

A hike through the lunar terrain of the black desert and side craters of Piano Del Lago, above 2500m on Etna's South slope. The hybrid solution to walking in the volcanic area immediately below the active summit craters, ascending by iconic cable car from the tourist station on the South slope at 1900m to 2500m and then trekking up. This hike takes you up high to pass through a distinctive landscape composed of pyroclastic cones, recent lava fields, endemic vegetation living in extreme conditions, and sharp volcanic rock mats.
